I returned to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland for another two-day music filled weekend adventure. My first Moonrise Festival experience was in 2015, and simply put was amazing. This year, I’m happy to say, The Moonrise Festival team had upgraded the festival in numerous ways, making it even better this time around.
Wristband pick up spots made it easier to enter the grounds. Once you had your wristband, the search lines were divided by gender, and bag or no bag, making for a swift and easy process.
The setup of stages, food/beverage areas, bar areas, water refill stations, misting tents, and medical tents remained in a similar style around the outside of the stages. But this year’s stages were noticeably upgraded in both size and production value.
There were larger shade spot structures and an AC dome where people could enter to cool off. Also new was an indoor smoking facility, which personally meant a lot to me because I don’t particularly care for the smell or second hand smoke. It’s the little things that make a big difference.
Event staff made their rounds at each show and stage offering; water, bags of ice and spraying patrons down with water, all very necessary because of the intense heat and humidity.
I noticed that the VIP areas had spectacular views and would definitely be worth the extra money next time around. The artists put on amazing shows and the vibes from the crowds were unexplainable.
Moonrise was again, an incredible experience. I can expect next year to be just as good, if not better! Thank you to the Moonrise Festival team, all the event staff, the artists, and my fellow ravers for another amazing and memorable experience.
