Hulaween is returning for another sensational Halloween weekend beneath the mystical trees at Spirit Lake. For those who don’t know, Hulaween takes place at The Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park near Live Oak, FL and is hosted by The String Cheese Incident. We realize it’s pretty early to be talking about a festival that takes place toward the end of the season, but we’re already anticipating this to be one of the best this year and want to emphasize how incredible these three days will be. If you dig the vibe of festivals like Electric Forest, you should put Suwanee at the top of your list. Artists such as Odesza, Tipper, Gramatik, Nghtmare, Rezz, Tory Lanez, TroyBoi, and more are stacked throughout the lineup. Hulaween ’18 is one to watch.
Often deemed the “EF of the South”, Hulaween offers a spiritual and transformative getaway that will keep you on your feet yet ease your mind and soul. To even attempt to portray all that Hulaween has to offer in a single article is challenging – the substantial amount of positive feedback this festival continues to receive year after year has left us in awe. Beyond the dazzling display of lights laced throughout the 800 acres of Spanish moss-draped oaks, Hula plans to offer dance, flow, meditation, and yoga classes throughout the weekend – although a full list of events has yet to be released. I’d like to go into detail about the transcending art installations and various other activities, but they said it best themselves: “Fans can expect an epic fusion of dazzling lights, art installations and performance art that morphs the Spirit Lake waterfront and adjacent forest into a vivid dream-like space that fully engages the senses.” Read it again and tell us you haven’t caught yourself reaching for your wallet.
From what we’ve heard and experienced, the atmosphere at Hulaween is full of good vibrations, an aspect often overlooked but proven important to a lot of festival goers. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and camping has never been made easier or more about the individual ticket buyers comfort and enjoyment. Camping with your friends, even those who arrive way late, can be handled with ease. While there’s always structured camping at most festivals, Hula has proven to be more understanding and doesn’t confine you to a small box surrounded by those who made it through security at the same time as you. For once, the time you arrive doesn’t have to dictate whether you get stuck with a camp spot out in the boonies.
This year, the festival takes place from Friday October 26th to Sunday October 28th. Tier 1 GA tickets were priced at an astonishingly low $199 before fees – naturally tier 1 has officially sold out. However, tier 2 tickets are still available for a bargain at $269 before fees. Camping is priced per car at $45 or $125 per RV. Early arrival will cost an extra $75, but with a pre-party lineup featuring Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, STS9. The Floozies, Minnesota, Eoto, and more, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this option sell out as well. A unique feature to Hulaween, you can pay more to arrive on site as early as Sunday, October 24th – although early access to the venue itself will not be granted.
VIP: There is an abundance of VIP packages, all with an unbelievable list of perks. Sadly, the two types of solo VIP tickets have already sold out, but there are several packages still available. Depending on the ticket, VIP is a truly all-inclusive experience with discounted alcoholic beverages, indoor bathrooms and showers, designated viewing areas, camping near main stage, complimentary massages, and complimentary golf cart shuttle service. For a small amount more, the Werewolf VIP includes all these perks plus 6 catered meals for lunch and dinner from Friday to Sunday. Hulaween also offers an array of group packages that include all of these amenities with the option of glamping, special hotel stays, or on-site cabins. Note: the on-site cabins, or “Zombie VIP” have also sold out. (We’re telling you now – buy your ticket at face value before it’s too late).
Long story short, Hulaween has truly outdone themselves every year, and we don’t expect this year to be anything short of an immersive and gratifying experience.
